🛠 Beta 300RR Sachs Suspension Review – First Ride
We knew the Sachs gear might be average, (Dave’s seen so much of this accross many years with wild settings and parts) so we thought let’s get this model and see what it’s actually like. We grabbed the lower spec Beta 300RR straight from the dealer equipped with the Sachs suspension expecting a fight. We Ran it in, then hit the trails Saturday and then onto Corner Inlet’s vet-spec moto track on Sunday to see what this thing’s really about. 👉Back to back against our tried, trusted and already tested 300 XC .
Front fork? Easy answer it’s Springy. The Front end rides high and dances over everything. Feels like Beta’s answer was “no damping, soft spring – she’ll be right.” Spoiler: she wasn’t. Bouncing through the bush was sketchy; on the track, it was worse.
Rear shock? A suction like action in the car park ,then it packed down hard on track, it felt like we were riding on the guard. Rider too fat for the oem spring, maybe ? So Dave tried it , he’s light as , same deal. We feel it’s too soft on compression, sliding everywhere mainly us sliding off the back of the seat #chopper . The shock Rebound was over-damped and killing the feel.
Krooztune Dave grabbed the screwdriver and wound off the rebound , wound up the spring to its sag limit (as per manual). It Came alive — just. Still way soft and a weird feel overall though.
This Beta has got potential, but it needs help, and help very Fast. This bike is full of clever ideas and it’s neatly built. We love the smooth engine with the various maps , they were awesome. We love the look of these Euro bikes, something different to the usual. We just need to get a base setup on this to really hit the trails at pace. We were too scared accross the rough terrain to pick up the pace any further . The KTM was simply long gone into the distance.
We’re stripping it now to build a complete Krooztune setup kit solution. This one’s gonna be wild and we can’t wait!! — stay tuned and you know ….. we BETA hurry up 🫣😂
